Abstract

926,209. Rotary l.C. engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 9, 1960], No. 28391/61. Class 110 (2). A rotary I.C. engine of the n, n +1 lobes type has a jacketed cylindrical casing 6 and hollow end-plates 13 through which cooling water is circulated. Water flows into the casing 6 from the inlet 18, circulates in the direction of rotation of the piston, past the spark-plug 22, inlet port 23 and exhaust 24, to the water outlet 25. Openings 27, 28 are provided close to the inlet and outlet 18, 25 to allow water to circulate in the hollow end-plates. Radial webs are fixed alternately to the inner and outer walls 35, 36 of the end plate and are provided with small openings close to their junctions with the walls, to vent any dead spaces.
