Abstract

926,121. Friction clutches. FRANCAISE DU FERODO S.A. Dec. 8, 1959 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 41759/59. Class 80 (2). A friction disc 10 for a heavy duty clutch has radial slots 11 across which flexible members 22 are secured in order to prevent fracturing of the disc. The members 22 may cover the radially outer ends of the slots, or the inner ends, and are secured to the disc by rivets 23 or by spot welding. The members 22 may be of steel and be of less thickness than friction linings 14 so as not to participate in the frictional operation, or they may be of substantially the same thickness in order to participate. The members 22 may alternatively be of asbestos fabric. The linings 14 may be of woven fabric, moulded asbestos or calcined metal, and may be directly secured to the disc by adhesive, or, as shown, may be mounted in holders 15, 16 riveted to the disc.
