Abstract

925,646. Refractory bricks. GENERAL REFRACTORIES Ltd. May 25, 1961 [July 19, 1960], No. 24018/60. Class 51 (2). A basic refractory brick comprises preformed sections of fired and unfired material joined alongside each other. In the embodiment shown, there are two unfired sections 21B surrounding one fired section 20A and held to it by external metal U-plates 23 with legs 24 projecting into grooves 25 running along the top and bottom faces of the fired section. Other embodiments not shown include uncased bricks with two sections, one fired, one unfired, and having either a plane or dove-tailed interface, the sections being joined with a refractory cement; a three-section brick with dove-tailed interfaces, where again a refractory cement may be used; a two-section brick with a continuous metal casing around the sides and edges and joined along one vertex of the brick, with an internal metal plate between the two sections; and a three-section brick with two external metal U-plates covering the upper and lower sides of the brick. Brick materials are magnesite/chrome, chrome/magnesite and magnesite.
