In order to prevent corrosion of the outer container 1 of a fire extinguisher, the extinguishing substance, e.g. water containing antifreeze salts, is contained in a bag 5 of synthetic resinous material, the bag constituting a lining for the outer container and being formed with openings for the passage of the container 2 for the expelling medium and the outlet member 4 for the extinguishing substance. The bottom 6 and top 7 of the outer container may be secured together by screwthreads on a bayonet joint.
