Abstract

924,611. Nesting furniture. STURGIS POSTURE CHAIR CO. Oct. 24, 1960 [Oct. 23, 1959], No. 36340/60. Class 52 (2). In nesting underframes on which seat members or table tops are mounted, the legs are joined by cross-webs having spacer blocks on their inner faces engageable with the legs of an adjacent frame so that the seat members or table tops do not abut one another. As shown, cross-webs 20 of sheet metal or plastic are fixed by adhesive to or made integral with spacer blocks 19 of linear polyethylene or " Tenite " (Registered Trade Mark) which are secured by screws to the legs 16, 17. To link the frames together side-by-side, hooks 21 are brought into engagement with apertures 22. A joint (Fig. 6, not shown) for connecting the seat members to the underframes is described.
