Abstract
924,174. Dry-cleaning apparatus. CONSTRUCTIEWERKHUIZEN EMILE D'- HOOGE P.V.B.A. Nov. 14, 1960 [July 15, 1960], No. 38953/60. Class 138 (2). Dry-cleaning apparatus is provided with equipment for measuring relative humidity this equipment being installed in a circuit which is separate from the usual filtering circuit and controlling the addition of water to the circulating liquid. As shown, the liquid is circulated by a pump 20, the greater part being returned to the machine 1 through a mixing device 24 and the remainder through a vapour chamber 14 and safety device 26. In the mixing device the liquid is thoroughly mixed with any water and soap solution supplied from reservoirs 27, 30 under the control of valves 28, 31. A hair hygrometer 12 connected to the top of the chamber 14 controls operation of the valves 28, 31 through an electrical circuit (Fig. 8, not shown). The hygrometer has three points 35, 36, 37, displaceable over a graduated scale (not shown), the pointer 35 being connected to the hair 38 of the hygrometer. Pointers 36, 37 carry electric contacts and can be adjusted for minimum and maximum values of humidity. An electrically-operated valve 43 supplies dry air to dry out the chamber 14 and hygrometer 12 at the end of each washing process. As soon as the humidity falls to the lower adjusted value the contact carried by pointer 36 is closed and the air supply automatically shut off. The safety device 26 comprises a cup 44 pivoted at 46 (Fig. 6), and counterbalanced by weights and a mercury switch 47. If the flow through a pipe 25 ceases, liquid in the cup 44 drains through a hole 48 and the cup returns to the horizontal position and the switch 47 opens, thereby de-energizing the water and soap supply valves 28, 31. The mixing device 24 includes a jet nozzle 54 and a constricted portion 53 producing a Venturi action. A float device 34 cuts-off the supply of solvent when the required level is reached and also starts the pump 20.
