Abstract

1,058,990. Washing glasses. VALCAST PRODUCTS Ltd. Dec. 8, 1965 [Dec. 12, 1964], No. 50689/64. Heading B8T. A drinking glass 2 is rinsed, after washing in a sink having rubber vanes on rotary brushes, not shown, by an internal spray nozzle 3 and an external spray ring 4 while inverted on a platform 12, the weight of the glass depressing the platform and its spring-loaded integral sleeve 16, the end 17 of which engages a lever 10 which operates a micro-switch 11 opening a valve 8 to allow water to be fed to the sprays. Hot water may be fed direct, or a heater 7, governed by the switch 11, may be incorporated. The depression of the sleeve 16 also operates a valve 24 by means of a lever 18, to dispense a quantity of detergent from an outlet 23. The sprayed water which drains away to the sink through a hole 31 in a shroud 1 surrounding the sprays mixes with the detergent and maintains the washing water in the sink at a constant temperature and composition. The apparatus may be mounted by sealing rings 25, 26 in holes in a draining board 30, or may be contained in a box having a number of suction pads on its lower side. Rinsing may be terminated by removal of the glass or by an electrical timing device.
