[Class 138(i)] A washing apparatus for cleansing drinking glasses. and like utensils, and intended for installation on a counter or the like, comprises an extensively perforated washing and draining board 1 on to which glasses are placed by the user for washing, means, such as nozzles 9 and 10, Fig. 4, for injecting jets or sprays of water upwardly through apertures in the board, a relatively open-ended washing housing and splash guard 11 mounted on the upper surface of the board over the water spray apertures and having an inlet end and discharge end, and a drip tray 2 arranged beneath the board to collect water for discharge to waste, whereby inverted glasses consecutively fed into the inlet end of the housing 11 and thus manually moved therethrough by the user are progressively sprayed by the jets of water, the washed glasses emerging from the discharge end of the housing for draining on the board. The nozzle or nozzles 9 is or are connected to a hot water pipe 5 and the nozzle or nozzles 10 is or are connected to a cold water pipe 6. The housing 11, of glass, transparent plastic or other transparent material may be slidably fitted on guides attached to or formed on the board 1, and is provided with reinforced edges 13 serving to hold it in place and to prevent damage to the edges of the housing. The housing is strengthened by transverse partitions 12 which also serve to minimize splashing of the water. The glasses may be cleaned by hot or cold water in the first instance and a tepid water jet may also be provided for initial cleaning.
