[Also in Group XXII] A welding head motor M is supplied from transformer TR 1 through magnetic amplifier TD and rectifiers U1-U4, a control winding AZr of the amplifier being in series with valve E1 In the left-hand position of a change-over switch V1, a voltage derived from a motordriven tachometer generator T is fed into the grid circuit of valve E1, this voltage being compared with a reference voltage across potentiometer P connected to stabilizer St. This enables the electrode to be fed at a constant speed. In the right-hand position of the change-over switch, a portion of the rectified arc voltage is fed into the grid circuit alternatively, and the arc voltage is automatically kept constant. The tachometer generator may be replaced by a circuit providing a voltage proportional to the welding current. The armature of the motor may be shunted by a stabilizing resistor.
