In a heat-exchanger comprising at least one inner tube 25 adapted to have a fluid passed therethrough and an outer tube 10 defining a space adapted to contain a fluid, there is a union for connecting the tubes 10, 25 and providing a conduit adapted to supply fluid to the interior of the tube 25, the union comprising a fitting 31 connected to the tube 25, an axially extending terminal member 19 connected to the tube 10 and surrounding the fitting, means, such as a split ring 49; preventing movement of the fitting 31 axially inward of the member 19, a conduit member 21 having an interior passage 52 communicating with the interior of tube 25, and an annular member 57 which is pressed by the member 21 against both the member 19 and the fitting 31 in a direction axially of the member 19. The member 57 constitutes part of means for providing a seal between the fitting 31 and the member 21 and part of means for providing a seal between the fitting and the member 19 to prevent escape of fluid from the second space. As shown, the member 57 is of soft iron and has curved ends which engage respectively with the tapered surfaces 35, 45 of members 31, 19 and in the recess 55 formed in the face of the member 21. In modifications, additional seals in the form of " O " rings 65, 71, Fig. 6, are included, and (b) the annular ring is of L-section.
