Abstract

923,907. Constructional toys. E. BONDESEN, and F. HANSEN. Oct. 25, 1961 [Oct. 25, 1960], No. 36636/60. Classes 132 (3) and 146 (2). A set of elements for erection into a constructional unit comprises a number of polyhedral elements each having an aperture extending between and through a pair of generally opposite faces thereof, a joint element disposable in contact with contiguous outer faces of any two juxtaposed polyhedral elements and having on each face a profile engageable in the contiguous profile of each polyhedral element, terminal elements engageable with the end polyhedral elements of the assembled unit and a stressing element or elements locatable with respect to the assembled elements to maintain all the assembled elements under compression thereby forming a constructional unit. Hollow-apertured elements 1, 2, 3, have connecting elements 6 and joining elements 9 with raised surfaces which fit in the apertures in the elements. A tensioning element 10 passes through the elements and is tensioned by a headed member which screws into resilient portion 11 on the tensioning element. The opposite faces of the elements may not be parallel but inclined at an angle and the connecting element 6 may be wedge-shaped or arcuate. The tensioning element may have screw-threaded ends and be tensioned by a nut. The element may comprise a loop of flexible material which engages a block at each end, one of which is rotated to tension. The connecting element may comprise a resilient member 16, Fig. 15, which has lateral flanges which engage two polyhedral elements 2a and is locked by an element 19. The polyhydral element may comprise an apertured element 20 with extending pieces 21 with dowels at the ends which fit in apertures 23 in a framepiece 22.
