922,977. Stabilizers. A. P. PENDRICK. June 28, 1961, No. 23326/61. Class 113. A stabilizer system to reduce rolling in rough water comprises fins which may be projected out of corresponding recesses in the hull of the ship at a fixed angle of incidence, the extent of projection depending on the speed of the vessel and the keel producing conditions acting thereon. In the embodiment of Figs. 6 and 7, the fins B1, B2 are projected at right angles to the centre line of the ship by gyroscopically controlled electrically or hydraulically driven operating gear C. The fins D1, D2, Fig. 14, may be of the type, Fig. 12, adapted to be swung out of their recesses about hinge axes E1, E2 inclined to the vertical. Specification 709,160 is referred to.
