Abstract
A system for stabilizing a ship against the rolling motion, a system of the sort in which fins are actuated by control means to modify the angles of attack according to which the fins travel through the water, and thus apply to the ship lifting forces that give rise to pairs around the axis of balance to neutralize said rolling movement; and of the kind in which the fins are provided with flaps or ailerons each governed so that it rotates in relation to its fin in the same direction in which the fin rotates in relation to the ship; each fin being actuated by the control means in response to a command or command signal applied to the control means; characterized in that the means for determining the command signal intended for the control means of a fin comprises means, which are hereinafter referred to by the name of vertical speed detector, adapted to provide a measure of the vertical component of the speed of the fin through the water.
