Abstract
922,632. Plate heat-exchangers. MARSTON EXCELSIOR Ltd. Jan. 29, 1962 [Feb. 1, 1961], No. 3807/61. Addition to 763,351. Class 64 (3). In a heat-exchanger of the type described in the parent Specification, the spaced plates are double-walled so that on perforation of any one wall mixing of the two fluid streams does not occur. As shown, the plates comprise double walls 2 and 3 separated by spacers 6 and defining between them spaces 9 which may communicate together with the subsidiary passages 11, with secondary headers (not shown) to enable leakage fluid to be drawn off. A pressure-indicating device may be incorporated to give visual or audible warning of leakage and the space 9 may be filled with perforated corrugated sheets 10 to aid heat conduction across the plate.
