Abstract

922,554. Watchmakers' tools. B. JADOW. April 8, 1960 [Aug. 12, 1959; Sept. 30, 1959], No. 12526/60. Class 139. [Also in Group XXIII] A watch-glass removing and replacing tool comprises a plurality of spring-loaded jaw-like members 4 located within a cup-shaped actuating member 3. The members 4 are pivotally located, in slots in a head 2 held by a nut on a threaded bolt 15 which extends through the base of the member 3 to receive a milled nut 25. The lower ends of the members 4 are held against the edge 22 of the actuating member 3 by a spring 5. To remove a glass from a watch the gripping ends 6 of the members 4 are located over and around the glass and the milled nut 25 is rotated to lower the member 3 so that its edge 22 forces the gripping ends 6 of the members 4 into tighter and tighter engagement with the rim of the glass until it is sufficiently compressed for removal. The members 4 may be replaced by tapered pins mounted in radial grooves in an annular web of the head 2.
