Abstract

922,335. Wick burners. W. B. POLUDNIAK. Aug. 21, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 30136/61. Class 75 (1). A wick burner comprises a wick 10 extending upwardly through a wick housing 5, over a roller 8 at the top 7 of the wick housing and back down through the wick housing, a passage for fuel vapour from the reservoir 1 into the upper portion 13 of the wick housing and an arch 16 of wire surmounting the wick. At refilling of the reservoir an end of the wick is pulled to bring a fresh portion of the wick on to the roller 8. The vapour from the reservoir enters the upper portion 13 of the wick housing through perforations 14 therein. The lower portion 11 of the wick housing is made of smaller diameter than the upper portion 13 by means of an inner tube 12. The arch 16 of wire comprises a wire coiled around the top 7 of the wick tube with its ends arched over the wick loop on the roller. The wick tube is supported by a cap 2 screwed on to the top of the reservoir. The latter may be made of transparent plastic material. The wick may be made of woven glass fibres.
