Abstract

921,989. Guiding tyre-tread strips. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. Aug. 18, 1961 [Jan. 4, 1961], No. 29835/61. Class 144 (1). Unvulcanized tyre-tread strips 1 are fed to a tyre-building drum by a guide track comprising pairs of profiled upper guide rollers 4 and a plurality of lower support rollers 2, the rollers 2 being mounted so that their axles 6 are movable axially in their associated bearings 7 to alignment of the strip by the rollers 4 without deformation. As shown, the endwise movement of each roller 2 is resisted by a spring 8 between each end face of the roller and the associated bearing. The rollers 4 are fixed against endwise movement but are angularly adjustable to bear against and conform to the shoulder regions of the tread strip. The roller 2 at the end of the track, adjacent the building drum, may be fixed against axial movement.
