921,673. Printing master sheet production. W. RITZERFELD, and G. RITZERFELD. June 19, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 22040/61. Class 98 (2). A base provided with a layer comprising one or more components of a dye-forming material and a further layer thereon or on an adjacent " contact sheet " comprising a component to react with the first component to form a dye is exposed by transit or reflex infia-red radiation to an original text to form dye image areas capable of being duplicated from. In Example I the base of the master sheet is cellulose acetate and is provided with a gelatin-polyglycol emulsion layer containing leucomalachite green, the further " contact sheet" layer is of polymethacrylic acid ester with tetrachlorquinone and dibutyl phthalate or tricresyl phosphate on a parchment paper support exposure is effected under an original text carrier by an infra-red lamp for 15 seconds to form mirror-script printing areas of malachite green usable by the spirit process. Further examples use similarly II leuco crystal violet and cerium sulphate, III the materials of Example I with 2,4-dichlorobenzoyl peroxide replacing the tetrachlorquinone and IV dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine with m-toluylenediamine and benzoquinone on the contact sheet, as the image-forming reactants. A few other substances for use in the invention are indicated.
