Abstract

921,664. Dental chairs. F. B. TRAININ. Jan. 17, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1960], No. 35668/60. Class 52 (2). A dental chair comprises a seat portion 2 pivotably mounted on a base plate 4 (Fig. 3) for movement relative thereto about a transverse horizontal axis 5, a back rest 1 pivotably mounted on the seat portion 2 about an axis 3 which is parallel with the axis 5 and units 8, 19 comprising reversible electric motors and reduction gear-boxes are provided to effect the pivotable movement of the seat and back portions respectively. The motors drive lead screws 9, 18 which engage threaded bushes 12, 16 on the plate 4 and side members 14 forming part of the back 1. Control elements 22 control the motors and each consists of two electric switches having forward, reverse and off positions. The base plate 4 is mounted on an hydraulic ram which gives vertical adjustment to the chair. Arm rests 26 are provided at least one of which is adjustable about a horizontal axis from a horizontal forwardly extending position to an upwardly extending position and to a downwardly extending position. A head rest 23 is adjustably mounted on the back rest 1. The chair is also fitted with a vibrator.
