Abstract

1435559 Invalids chair D SOMERSET 16 May 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 36521/73 Heading A4J An invalids chair comprises a base 11 and an elevatable seat 21, the seat being guided (e.g. as by guides 13) so as to remain parallel to its original position while at the same time moving both upwardly and forwardly. This is stated to allow the occupant to position his feet in a suitable position for standing up. The seat surface 24 is preferably supported on two bars 23, and is pivotable about the foremost bar to render the final stages of standing-up easy. As shown the seat is raised by a winch and cord system driven by motor 14. The motor may be controlled by switches (not shown) in an armrest 25. A foot stool may be provided.
