Class 79(5) Two tractors, their front dirigible wheels being removed, are coupled together in the manner described in Specification 837,795, there being provided a common turntable device comprising discs 4 and 6, both mounted for oscillation about a longitudinal axis, the former on a beam 3 of the foremost tractor and the latter on the rearmost tractor, and a centre disc 5, the three discs being connected by a king pin 7 for steering movement between the front and rear tractors which are provided with hydraulic jacks 10, 10a and 11, 11a connected respectively with radial arms 8 and 9 carried by disc 5. The pistons of the jacks are tubular and the cylinders of jacks 10 and 11 are connected to the tubular pistons of the jacks 10a and 11a, respectively, by pipes 17. Hydraulic fluid from a reservoir 14 is drawn through a pipe 14a by a pump 15a and delivered through a pipe 15 to a valve chest 12 from which it may be directed as required through pipes 16 to one of cylinders 10a or 11a, there being a return line 12a to the fluid reservoir 14. A telescopic link 26 is pivotally connected to the disc 5 and rear trailer and has pivotally mounted thereon at 25 a link 24 pivotally connected to the valve actuating mechanism 27 so that when the members 24 and 26 are in alignment the valve is in the neutral position. The link 24 is connected through the linkwork 23, 22, 21, 20 to the drop arm 18 of the steering mechanism of the rear trailer operated by the wheel 13. Upon a steering movement of the wheel 13, the link 24 is displaced, operating the valve 12 whereby relative movement between the front and rear tractors is caused until the members 24 and 26 are again aligned when the valve is restored to neutral.
