Abstract

921,018. Internally illuminated signs. EXTOL ENGINEERING Ltd. Dec. 2, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 31051/59. Class 3 (2). A display sign comprises a frame consisting of a U-shaped portion 2 disposed within a U- shaped portion 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>2</SP> so as to define therebetween recesses for the reception of spaced panels which are internally illuminated by fluorescent tubes 11 mounted on a carrier 10, the frame portions 1<SP>1</SP>, 2 being welded together and the frame portions 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>2</SP> being detachably secured together by clamping screws, see Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The panels may be made of transparent or translucent material and bear opaque indicia or be made of opaque material and bear translucent or transparent indicia and are sealed in position by rubber strips. The frame may be provided with strengthening ribs 8 and may be of rectangular form divided along a diagonal, see Fig. 5 (not shown).
