Abstract

919,123. Slide changing mechanisms. KAMERAUND KINOWERKE DRESDEN VEB. Dec. 6, 1960, No. 41957/60. Class 97 (1). In an automatic slide-change mechanism for slide projectors, comprising a reciprocable slide transport mechanism, a crank mechanism drivable by means of a motor through a gear mechanism and an elastic coupling device arranged between said crank mechanism and said transport mechanism for transmitting the movement of the crank mechanism to the transport mechanism, said elastic coupling includes two elements for connection, respectively, to the crank mechanism and the transport mechanism, which elements are provided with noses or dogs engageable with a driving member arranged between said elements under the action of a torsion spring carried by said elements. As shown (Fig. 1), a motor 1 is connected by way of gears 2 and 3, a crank 4, a link 5, a crank 6 and an elastic coupling 34, 39 to a lever 8 one end of which co-operates with slides (not shown) to push them into a projection gate 41 along a channel 13 and the other end of which is coupled through a link 9 to a lever 10 pivoted at 11 and having a pin 12 for returning said slides along said channel out of said projection gate. The elastic coupling (Figs. 2 and 3), comprises two sleeves 30, 32 which are freely mounted on a spindle 7, are provided with dogs 31, 33 respectively and are rigidly connected with the members 6 and 8, respectively, said spindle 7 having a pin 39 engaged at opposite ends by said dogs under torsion of a helical spring 34, one end of which engages in a hole 40 in the crank 6, the other end of which engages in a hole 38 in the lever 8 and the middle portion 37 of which is looped over an end 39 of said pin 40. Provision of this elastic coupling reduces jerks in the event of jamming of the changing device and also allows the crank 6 to continue operating in the event of such jamming. A lever 17, coupled to the lever 10 by means of a pin-and-slot coupling 15, 16 and pivoted at 18, enables manual adjustment of the slide transport mechanism to be effected (after jamming, for example) this manual adjustment being facilitated by a part 20 which is releasably held in the position shown and may be pivoted out of the way (Fig. 4, not shown) when not required.
