Class 20(iii) A vehicle window regulator comprises a crank arm c, a window support m having a slide k formed on or secured thereto, a two-part toggle-like link o, p interconnecting the crank arm and the window support, a guide j along which the slide is movable, and toothed gearing f, g for actuating the crank arm. The crank arm c is supported on a pivot d in a plate a beneath the vertically sliding window b, and has an arcuate gap e with gear teeth f which engage the toothed pinion g carried by a spindle h on plate a. The crank arm is loaded by a spirally coiled spring i concentric with pivot d and connected at opposite ends to the pivot and crank, and serving to counterbalance the window. The vertical channel section guide j is secured to plate a. The toggle link is pivotally attached at one end to the centre of support m and at the other end to the crank arm c, the two parts o, p being pivotally interconnected and prevented from relative movement in one direction by an abutment q on one of the link parts. The pinion g is actuated by a handle s connected to the pinion in any conventional manner, e.g. directly attached, or, as shown, operating through sprocket wheels r and t and chain u. In the upper position of the window, as in Fig. 1, and for about half the sliding movement the links o, p are in alignment, but on further movement an edge v of the crank arm abuts on edge of link p and the links become increasingly inclined, Fig. 2.
