Abstract

919,074. Waveguides. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 17, 1961, No. 41248/61. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XXII] A waveguide is formed of a wire helix with the turns thereof bonded together by adhesive. The waveguide may comprise a coil 40 of enamelled wire with a strand 30 of graphite-coated fibre-glass thread wound between the outer ridges of the coil and a single fibre-glass tape, or two narrower tapes 38, 39 side-by-side, wound in overlapping manner around the coil. The strand 30 and tape or tapes 38, 39 are coated with epoxy resin and the assembly is heated to cure the resin.
