Abstract

918,665. Feeding sheets. HARRIS-INTERTYPE CORPORATION. March 17, 1960, No. 9531/60. Addition to 772,679. Class 100 (1). The auxiliary sheet-pile support, described in the parent Specification, adapted to be inserted into a main sheet pile and to be withdrawn, when the pile is depleted, to allow the depleted pile to rest on a new main sheet pile, is modified in that instead of a single pallet the support comprises a number of individual rodlike members each hollow and provided with means for introducing compressed air thereinto and for discharging such air therefrom. As shown, a number of separate hollow rod-like members 10 each connected to an air supply by a readily-detachable hose 20 is inserted below a partially depleted pile. The rod-like members may be cylindrical or oval-shape, tapered at the front ends for insertion into a pile, and the airdischarge openings therein may have ball valves fitted, as disclosed in the parent Specification, so that the weight of the sheet pile will open the valves.
