Abstract

918,164. Bending tubes. LANGMATZ G.m.b.H. Sept. 28, 1961 [April 28, 1961], No. 34968/61. Class 83 (4). Apparatus for bending tubes comprises a straight guide cheek driven in the longitudinal direction, a curved single cheek having means to clamp an end of a tube thereto to be bent to this curve, the straight and curved guide cheeks having approximating semicircular cross-section and having means such as co-operating teeth or pin-and-hole means such that the straight guide cheek moves the curved cheek, and means for pressing the curved cheek against the straight cheek. A tube 16 to be bent to the shape of a curved member 9 is clamped at one end thereto by means 17. The member 9 is pressed against a straight member 8 by a roller 13 urged by means 4. The member 8 is backed up by a roller 5, and is moved longitudinally by a chain 7 driven by a motor. Teeth 10 on the member 9 engage recesses 11 in the member 8 so that the member 9 is driven past the roller 13 and the tube 16 is bent up against the member 9. After bending the member 9 is retracted from the member 8 by fingers 19 and the bent tube is released. A conical tube may be bent.
