Abstract

Briquetted quicklime is obtained by mixing 30 to 70% of a quicklime fraction having a grain size of less than 1 mm. with 70 to 30% of a quicklime fraction having a grain size of 1 to 3 mm., and then briquetting the mixture with a briquetting appliance to which a lubricating and parting agent is applied. The lubricating and parting agent preferably comprises an aqueous suspension of graphite, molybdenum disulphide or hydrated lime to which a dispersing agent, e.g. a cutting oil, alkali metal salts p of higher fatty acids or a polyphosphate, has been added.
