An electrolyte for depositing magnetic coatings electrolytically contains a small amount of trimethyl borazane. In examples, electrolytes of cobalt, iron, and/or nickel salts have added thereto 0.5 g. to 4 g./litre of tri-methyl borazane, and are plated on a metallized foil of synthetic resin.
