916,477. Railway-track brakes. THYSSEN-HUTTE A.G., AUGUST. Aug. 5, 1960 [Aug. 7, 1959 (3)], No. 27265/60. Class 103 (1). A railway-track brake having a pair of adjustable linkages comprises adjusting rollers 7 supported resiliently on movable saddles 1 by way of pivotable levers 8 and connected to one another by means of two linkage groups 11, 12 extending parallel to the railway track 3, the two linkage groups operating in different directions and connected to one another by means of a double-armed compensating lever 26 mounted on a fixed pivot 27 below the track. The compensating lever 26 is operated at each end by a slidable guide frame 18 for the pistonrod 16 of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder 13 disposed below the linkage. The rods 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, forming part of each linkage group, are connected by means of intermediate member 9 to the pivotable lever 8 which is pivoted at one end to a resilient device in the form of a set of rubber shock-absorbers 6, and pivoted at the other end to a roller 7 which operates in a concave roller track 37 on sliding chain 36 of the movable brake beam 5 to ensure that the adjusting movement of the brake beam is proportional to the movement of the driving linkage. Adjustment is effected by rotation of rods 10, 10<SP>1</SP> which are provided with a screwed connection to threaded pins 49 connected to intermediate members 9. In the embodiment disclosed each brake beam 4 is fixed.
