Abstract

916,468. Signal rockets. PAIN & SONS Ltd., JAMES. May 25, 1961 [May 30, 1960], No. 19110/60. Class 9 (2). Signal rocket has a casing 10 attached to which is a sheet metal collar 12 carrying guides 14 for angle-section tail sticks 16, each having a stop member 18 to limit rearward movement of the sticks. The sticks are attached at the rear end to a sheet metal cruciform fin structure 20, 22. Ignition of the propellant is initiated at the forward end 24 of a fuze cord 26 which is connected to the base and the propellant gases impinge on a loosely mounted disc 28, e.g. of cardboard, to force the tail rearwardly. The description is substantially the same as in Specification 916,469, but the claims differ.
