Abstract

916,356. Collapsible, stackable cartons. CLEMENS, L. April 10, 1961 [July 22, 1960; Aug. 12, 1960; Jan. 31, 1961], No. 12868/61. Class 18. A carton of flat or corrugated cardboard or of chipboard, or of osier work, comprises a base 13 and four sides 14 which fold upwardly therefrom and has corner supports 19a, 19b each secured to adjacent sides, the supports being clipped or stuck together when the carton is erected. Members 31 stuck to the underside of the base provide an edge 34 against which the top of a support is located when the cartons are stacked. The supports may be held together by a clamp 53 as shown or by a ring, string wire, a nail, a staple, a strip steel staple, an adhesive, a cap, or a pin. The supports may be of cardboard, a plastic, or metal. The sides and/or the base may be reinforced by strips 22 and the top edges of the sides may be covered with water repellant strip. The carton may be impregnated to increase its strength. A cover 42 may be secured by string or wire 47 and rests on ledges 45 on the inside of the sides. Members 44 reinforce the edges of the cover and an alternative means of securing the cover comprises pegs passing through holes in members 41, 44.
