916,320. Packaging; wrappers. DROHMANN G.m.b.H., CARL. Dec. 15, 1960 [Jan. 16, I960]. No. 43288/60. Classes 94(1) and 94(2). A tear thread 3 extending inside a wrapper 2 enclosing a number of packages 1 is fastened by staples 4 near the ends of the wrapper, incisions 5 being formed near the fastenings simultaneously with the cutting of the wrapper from a web. Rollers 7, 8 operate intermittently to draw the web over a plate 9, and a stapling unit 18 descends to fix the staples by means of heads 19, 20 each time that a device 21 stops the web. A plate 24 allows the staples to be bent over. While the web is stationary a cutter device 25, 26 cuts the web and tear thread 3, fed in from a spool 11, and forms the incisions 5. A pusher 28 places articles to be packed within the wrapper which is folded, as it passes through a member 29, round five sides of the package. The rear side of the package is folded by means of a slide (not shown). Instead of staples, the tear thread may be fastened by cement or adhesive strip.
