Abstract

915,708. Lifting-devices. PACIFIC SCIENTIFIC CO. July 28, 1961 [Aug. 1, 1960], No. 27521/61. Class 78 (4). When a pin 1, Fig. 2, is lowered by a lifting device into a central hole 2 in a load-supporting frame 5 plates 14 are pivoted apart about pins 16 and swing back to engage behind a shoulder 17 to enable the frame 5 to be lifted. The pin is released by lowering it further, with the frame 5 resting on a support, when a collar 20 pushes the plates 14 so far apart that latches 23, 25 pivoted to arms 21 of bell-cranks 15, engage and are held by projections 26, Fig. 4, until they are tripped by a shoulder 27 as the pin is withdrawn. As described, a load may be supported by rods attached to holes 6, Fig. 2, as shown in Specification 874,873, the present invention being an improvement of the apparatus described in Specification 874,873.
