Abstract
914,666. Packaging-machines. GAGG, J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Get. 21, 1960 [Oct. 22, 1959], No.35793/59. Class 94(1). device for detecting labels on packets having closure folds 4, 5 over at least a part of which a label extends, comprises a feeler 7 shaped to engage the edge of a fold and movable relatively to the packet surface and towards the hinge line 8 of the last fold 5, the feeler 7 being attached to a lever 10 which is positioned to operate a switch 15. The lever 10 may comprise portions 10a, 10b jointed at 12 and biased by a spring 13 to produce an over-centre action. Alternatively the lever may comprise a single pivoted arm. In use, packets are moved intermittently along a surface 9 and the lever 10 is oscillated or rotated above them in timed relationship with the packet movements. When the feeler 7 engages on or under the flap 5 of an unlabelled packet, the lever 10 bends about the joint 12 causing a spring 17 to operate the switch 15, which may operate an alarm or ejection system.
