Abstract
1291001 Applying closures to bag necks; labels; reels KWIK LOK CORP 19 April 1971 [8 Feb 1971] 25202/71 Headings B8C, B8F and B8M Sheet closures 98 each having an interior aperture 211 connected by a narrow slot to the exterior are applied to bunched bag necks by being held in a rocker 90 beneath a bag neck, the rocker then being pivoted upwardly to cause jaws 212 on either side of the slot to flex about the neck. The closures are connected by webs to form a strip. Manual insertion of a bunched neck 205 actuates a switch arm 77 to cause the rocker 90 to pivot upwardly about pins 85. Withdrawal of a bag neck breaks the webs connecting the closure around the bag neck from the preceding closure held by an arm 107, and also releases the switch arm 77. The arm 107 is pivoted upwardly allowing the closure held thereby to be fed into the rocker 90 before the rocker is downwardly pivoted. A label (207) may be glued to each closure in the strip. The label or the closure may be printed in the machine. The flanges of a reel holding the closures may be of a three-pointed "star" shape.
