Abstract

914,364. Fabrics, finishing. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 3, 1959 [June 3, 1958], No. 18945/59. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group IX] A textile fabric made from a continuous filament bulked yarn having a multiplicity of loops of individual filaments or groups of filaments extending from its surface is subjected to a brushing operation so as to extend and break the loops projecting from the face of the fabric without disrupting the yarn. Fig. 2 shows apparatus for brushing the fabric. The fabric 14 is guided around rolls 17 to 21 so as to be brought into contact with brushing rolls 25. The fabric can be turned and again sent through the apparatus to brush the other side or another bank of brushing rolls can be positioned to act on the other surface in sequence.
