A mould for the vertical casting of walls and slabs comprises a framework including two side walls interconnected at their bottoms by a transverse framework and at their ends by end frames, and an intermediate screen, or screens, supported by the framework, the bottom of the mould being defined by a floor supported by the transverse framework and the ends of the mould being defined by members supported by the end frames. The side walls, Fig. 6, comprise, each intermediately the vertical limbs 2 of U-members, of which the corresponding cross-pieces are channels 3, and, at the ends, the vertical limbs 6 of similar U- members with cross-pieces 8; bottom longitudinal bearing beams 4, top longitudinal channels 9 and diagonal struts 10. The bearing beams 4 are cross-connected by beams 4a, which rest on concrete foundations 5. The U-members 6 at the ends of the side walls are interconnected at their tape by channel members 7. which form the tops of the end frames, the bottoms being formed by the cross-pieces 8. Each screen, Fig. 7, comprises a corresponding frame 20 and intermediate members 21, 22, all of channel iron, the last-mentioned of double channel section. The screens rest across the cross-pieces 3 in which are rows of studs with heads 26, Fig. 11, which enter the channel sections of the bottom parts of the frames 20. A cladding of smooth plates 13 is attached to the inner surface of each side wall, Fig. 10, through the medium of wooden bars 12 fixed to vertical bars arranged on the vertical limbs 2. The screens are clad with smooth plates 25. Planks 34 are held on the end frame by plates 24 welded on the end members 20 of the screens, Fig. 7, and projecting slightly beyond them, and by members attached by the end U-members 6, these planks 34 defining the ends of the casting spaces. Floor boards 31, Fig. 11, are placed between the screens to lie on the channel members 3 and 8 so as to form the bottoms of the casing spaces 32. Slots are formed in the top longitudinal channels 9 of the side walls for engagement by hooks 28 on the ends of spacers 29, Fig. 10, which have projections 30 so spaced that they hold the screens vertical; the side walls are similarly held the correct distance apart, further slots being provided in their top channels 9. The side walls and screens have lifting rings 19, 23. Rails 35 are supported on the channel members 7 and on them runs a traverse 36 for conveying the screens and casting material. Several moulds can be arranged side by side, with a connecting rail 35a Between the screens and one side of the framework may be telescopic tubes 39, leaving a space for workmen. Before casting, door shields may be introduced to result in door openings in the walls. The sheet metal cladding of the screens is reinforced against bending by the insertion of spacers which consist of wood fibre plates slotted to interengage and form a cellular structure, ventilation channels also being arranged. To transport the mould, front and rear wheel frames 45, 46, Fig. 15, are detachably fixed under the beams 4, 4a through Z-shaped beams 47.
