913,096. Earth-excavating machines. SOC. AUXILIARE DE L'ENTERPRISE, AUXEN. May 24, 1961, No. 18688/61. Class 68 (1). In a self-propelled bucket wheel or bucket ladder trench excavator to allow of the rate of advance to be co-related to the rate of digging the drive from the prime mover 11 of the excavator is taken to an hydraulic torque converter 12, which in turn drives through suitable gear transmission 19, 28-32, 35, 36, the excavator unit 9 as well as a further hydraulic torque converter 18 driving also through suitable gear transmission 21-27, 37-40, the means 41, 42 by which the excavator is advanced over the surface of the ground. A dog clutch 33 simultaneously cooperating with sliding gear-wheels 27 and 32 of the two transmissions allows of all the power simultaneously driving the means 41, 42 and 9 or the means 41, 42 only.
