Abstract
912,673. Splitting wood. DEUSS, P. R. Sept. 29, 1961 [July 21, 1960], No. 25436/60. Class 145. For cutting the tongue of tongued-andgrooved floorboards, a circular cutter 25 is rotatably mounted on a spindle 19 held in arms 11 depending from a foot-plate 10 and a pair of rollers 21 are also rotatably mounted on the arms to engage the surface of the floorboards and determine the depth of cut. The rollers may be mounted on the spindle 19 or on separate axes and eccentric adjustment for depth of cut may be provided for either the spindle 19 or the roller spindles. The plate 10 has a patterned upper surface, a curved toerail 15 and a cut-out 35 through which the cutter is visible. A roller 34 is provided on a spindle 32 held in arms 17 at the rear end of the plate 10 and the length of the plate is such that the operator's heel can be used for braking. The cutter may be sharpened to an inclusive angle of about 30 degrees or may be notched so as to dot-perforate the tongue and is secured by a nut on a hollow bolt which provides a large bearing area on the spindle 19.
