Abstract
911,662. Glazing. SWALLOW, H. Jan. 28, 1959 [Jan. 29, 1958], No. 2897/58. Class 30 (3). A window-pane mounting strip 14 of resilient material such as rubber or polyethylene has a recess 22 or a groove (Fig. 2, not shown) to receive the edge of a pane of glass 20 and a flange 27 to engage with a second pane 12 e.g. an already existing pane, to seal the gap between the panes and spaced pockets 28 are cut in the strip to communicate with a continuous longitudinal chamber 26 containing moisture-absorbing substance. As shown, an inner sealing strip 32, e.g. of polyethylene, and a wooden beading 34 nailed to the frame 10 secure the pane 20. The ends of the cut strips are mitred and heat sealed to form a complete frame fitted to the frame 10 or fitted to the edges of the frame and then pushed home against the existing panes.
