Abstract

A glass melt guide element such as a debitense, float or loose bridge, for use in the cooling chamber of a glass melting tank is given a surface coating of alumina or zirconium oxide by flame-spraying. The guide element may be of metal, ceramic material or graphite and the protective coating may be of 0,2 to 1,0 mm. thickness.
