910,457. Aquaria. WILLINGER, A. H., and WILLINGER, H. W. Sept. 3, 1959, No. 30115/59. Class 48. An aquarium comprises a tank 11 of truncated pyramid form made of transparent thermoplastic resin and having side walls with inwardly directed curvature such that water pressure causes them to assume planar positions, a base 10 in which the tank bottom is removably disposed and a removable cover 12. The concavity in the walls of the tank is more pronounced near the top. The base is made of moulded opaque plastic and comprises a rectangular frame 13 of U-section and upright cross-members 18, 19 extending from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the inner smaller limb 15 of the frame. The upright cross-member 19 is discontinuous at its centre. The tank has a flange 20 and a depending lip 21 at its rim. The cover 12 has a downwardly directed peripheral channel 23 for receiving the rim of the tank and a housing 29 for a lamp and a reflector 54. Studs 26 in the channel 23 engage the top flange 20 of the tank and allow air to enter the cover and a louvred wall 35 in the housing 29 allows escape of air from the cover. The cover has a removable panel 38 slidable on horizontal flanges 37 on the bases of two converging walls 34 of the housing. The outer edge of the panel forms a continuation of the cover peripheral channel 23. An electric light socket 45 projects through an aperture in the housing 29 and has a switch 48. The electric cable to the socket 45 passes through a cut-out in the housing. The reflector 54 is mounted on the inside of the roof of the housing and is spaced therefrom. The cover is a thermoplastic moulding.
