Abstract

1330062 Aquaria JOHN ALLAN AQUARIUMS Ltd and A P RILEY 29 Feb 1972 [3 March 1971] 5902/71 Heading A1A [Also in Division F4] A hood for an aquarium tank includes a rigid cover portion having a peripheral skirt with vertical walls adapted to register with the top of the tank walls, and comprises a first compartment having a lid 4 and in which lamps for illuminating the tank are supported, and a closed second compartment 6 in which is housed associated electrical equipment, e.g. transformers 22, wherein the first compartment is adaptable to support either fluorescent tubes or filament lamps. Spring clips 14 for mounting fluorescent tubes 11 are detachably mounted in aperture 19 having recesses 20 in a panel 9 separating the two compartments. Sockets for mounting bulbs 13 are clamped through apertures 19 by screwing on a flared tubular member 21. Fluorescent tube 12 may be permanently mounted on the front panel 10 of the hood. The lid 4 on the hood provides access to the lighting compartment and to the aquarium. The interior of the hood may comprise aluminium sheet stove enamlled to present a glossy white reflecting surface.
