Abstract

909,925. Cigarette - making machines; cigarettes. KÍRBER, K. April 14, 1960 [Aug. 31, 1959], No. 13351/60. Class 130. Cigarettes having a central air duct or loosening of tobacco are formed by a rotating mandrel 4 projecting into a tobacco rod T at or before the point where a paper web 3 is wrapped therearound. The mandrel 4 has an external screw thread and is hollow to feed a bonding medium from a supply pipe 5 to the rod interior. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the mandrel enters the rod as it comes off a direction-reversing feed wheel which carries it upwardly to wrapping mechanism from a forming belt on which it is showered. U.S.A. Specification 2,349,551 is referred to.
