Abstract

Condensation products of 1,3,5-triacroyl-hexahydro-s-traizine and a compound containing at least 2 terminal primary amino groups combined with polyethylene glycol residues or polyethylene oxide groups, the final products containing at least 50% of polyethylene oxide groups, are used for improving textiles. The condensation may be effected in situ by adding the components in solution in water and/or an organic solvent, with or without a catalyst, and drying the treated textile. Alternatively, a pre-condensate may be prepared, deficient in one of the components, and added as a solution together with an amount of the component to rectify the deficiency. Stable solutions of such pre-condensates may be prepared by adding the amino compounds in stages, keeping the pH between 3 to 6 by a volatile organic acid such as formic or acetic. Examples of polyoxyethylene amino compounds are polyethylene glycols having at least 2 OH groups replaced by NH2 groups; and hydroxyethylation products of ammonia, triethanolamine, glycerine, butanediol, trimethylol-propane and diethylene-triamine, in which 2 or more terminal OH groups have been replaced by NH2 groups.
