908,978. Bending tubes. HILGERS MASCHINEN - UND APPARATE - BAUANSTALT. May 25, 1960 [May 29, 1959], No. 18532/60. Class 83 (4). A tube-bending machine, in which a tube is bent around a rotated pattern while the unbent part is supported internally by a mandrel and which has a device acting parallel to the mandrel axis in order to push the workpiece off the mandrel after the bending operations are completed, is characterized in that the pushing-off device comprises a gripper by which the workpiece is engaged and clamped rigidly at its bent-over portion near the bending pattern. A tube 17 bent around a pattern 10, its straight unbent portion 18 being supported internally by a mandrel, is removed from the mandrel and pattern by a gripper head 13 moved parallel to the mandrel axis by a piston 19 in a cylinder 23. The head 13 is pivotable about a pin 35, between adjustable limits, relative to a forked member 26, a tubular extension 27 of which fits over the rod 20 of the piston 19. A spring 30 urges the member 26 outwardly an extent limited by a slot 28 in the piston-rod 20 engaged by a pin 29. Abutments 31 adjustable on a guide rod 22 carried by the piston-rod 20 engage switches 33, 331 to switch off the drive to the piston 19. The gripper head 13 comprises a central part 36 and two clamping jaws 21, for two tubes 47 bent simultaneously, pivoted thereto at 37 and rocked by hydraulic or pneumatic piston means 38, 39, or by magnets. The cylinder 23 pivots relative to the machine frame on a shaft 52.
