Abstract
1,047,583. Bending tubes. HILGERS MASCHINEN-UND APPARATE-BAUANSTALT MIT BESCHRANKTER HAFTUNG. June 10, 1963 [June 19, 1962], No. 23006/63. Addition to 908,978. Heading B3E. A tube-bending machine in which a tube is bent around a rotated template, the unbent part being supported internally by a mandrel, and which has a device acting parallel to the mandrel axis in order to push the workpiece off the mandrel after the bending operations are completed is characterized in that the pushing- off device comprises a gripper member carried by a piston-rod and gripping the bent-over portion of the workpiece adjacent the bending template, the piston-rod or the cylinder cooperating therewith being pivotal in the plane of the mandrel. A tube bent around a former 10 with its straight unbent portion supported internally by a mandrel, is removed from the mandrel and former by a gripper head 13 moved parallel to the mandrel axis by a piston in a cylinder 23. In order that the gripper 13 may be moved out of the way of the tube during bending the cylinder 23 is swung about a pivot 56 on a plate 55 by piston and cylinder means 59 also mounted on the plate 55. The table 55 comprises upper and lower plates 55a, 55b, Fig. 3 (not shown), adjustable on one another by screw-and-slot means 63-66. The table 55 is also pivotable at 67 about an axis parallel to the mandrel so that a bend out of the plane of the former 10 may be gripped.
