908,785. Electric couplings. HUBBELL Inc., HARVEY. May 27, 1960, No. 18836/60. Class 38 (1). An electric wiring device comprises a contact with means for connecting a conductor wire to the contact comprising a bar 16, a lug 25 extending laterally from the bar in a plane substantially perpendicular to that of the bar and provided with an opening 26 through which the wire is inserted transversely of the lug and parallel to the bar, the outer end edge of the opening facing the bar comprising a point 28 which can pierce the insulation to engage the wire, and a screw 33, threaded into another opening in the bar in communication with the opening in the lug, and positioned to engage the wire on the side opposite from the edge and press the wire against the point to engage the wire and connect it to the contact.
