Abstract
908,783. Television. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 28, 1959 [Jan. 31, 1958], No. 3067/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL (a)] In a camera tube for converting colour television images into colour component signals the radiation-sensitive target incorporates separate groups of alternating electrode elements and colour filters (see Group XL (a)) and, in operation, the groups are stabilized at either cathode potential or at the potential of a grid arranged in front of the scanned side of the target, signals being obtained proportional to the magnitude of different colour components, but of opposite polarities. In a two-colour system with a photo-conductive target both signals may be derived from the target or one from the target and one from the returning electron beam. In a two-colour system with a photo-emissive target one signal is derived from the returning beam and the other from the grid adjacent the target. The returning beam falls on an electron multiplier. In a three-colour system two colour component signals are derived from the target and the third from the returning beam. The beam scans the target electrode elements transversely of their direction.
